Hayabusa2 Earth Swing-by Result

The Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA) confirmed that the Asteroid Explorer "Hayabusa2" is cruising on its target orbit after measuring and calculating the post-Earth-swing-by orbit.
The Hayabusa2 performed the Earth swing-by on the night of December 3 (Thu.), 2015 (Japan Standard Time).

Japan asteroid trip will star upgraded bouncing robot

Hayabusa 2, Japan's second mission to collect samples from an asteroid, is getting a MASCOT.
The German Aerospace Center (DLR) in Cologne and the Japan Aerospace and Exploration Agency (JAXA) in Tokyo announced this week that they have formalised a deal to send the German-built Mobile Asteroid Surface Scout, or MASCOT, on the mission, set to launch in 2014.

Hayabusa 2 is being ready to fly, and if everything goes right, it will blast off in 2014 to collect cosmic material from asteroid 1999 JU3.
The target this time is a roughly 3,000-foot diameter asteroid known by the rather unromantic scientific designation of 1999 JU3.
The window of opportunity to launch Hayabusa 2 will be sometime during 2014, when the earth and 1999 JU3 reach optimal position for a launch. Hayabusa 2 should reach the asteroid, which is described as roughly spherical by 2018 and then, after landing on the surface and collecting material, begin its return voyage to earth in 2019.

Panel OK's development of Hayabusa successor

A Space Activities Commission panel studying the possibility of a successor to the space probe Hayabusa recommended Thursday starting full-scale development on the next generation of the craft.
In response to the panel's conclusion, the Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology Ministry will ask for funds for research and development on the successor probe in its budget request for next fiscal year.
The plan is for Hayabusa 2 to travel to asteroid 1999 JU3, land on it, gather surface material and return to Earth.

The Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology has begun discussing the development of a new asteroid exploration spacecraft as a successor to the Hayabusa space probe -- which completed its mission and returned to Earth last month.
The development project calls for the launch of the "Hayabusa-2" asteroid probe sometime between July 2014 and 2015. The total project cost will be about 27 billion yen, including expenses for the H-2A launcher.
