EchoStar XV Satellite

Space Systems/Loral today announced that the EchoStar XV satellite, built for DISH Network L.L.C., is performing post-launch manoeuvres according to plan. The satellite deployed its solar arrays late Saturday night and early Sunday morning following its successful launch on Saturday from the Baikonur Space Centre in Kazakhstan  aboard an ILS Proton Breeze M launch vehicle provided by International Launch Services. Later today, it will fire its main thruster in order to start manoeuvring into geosynchronous orbit.

International Launch Services (ILS), a leading launch services provider for the global commercial satellite industry, successfully carried the EchoStar XV satellite into orbit today on an ILS Proton for DISH Network L.L.C., the fastest-growing pay-TV provider in America. EchoStar Satellite Services L.L.C., a subsidiary of EchoStar Corporation, manages DISH Network's space programs and will begin in-orbit testing of the satellite later this month.

A Russian Proton-M launch vehicle, blasted off from the Baikonur cosmodrome on Saturday evening, smoothly put into a targeted orbit the US telecom EchoStar-15 satellite, Itar-Tass learnt from press secretary of the Khrunichev Space Centre Alexander Bobrenev.
According to the press secretary, "the spacecraft EchoStar-15 detached from the Briz-M booster at 07.54 MT". The satellite will operate at a sub-satellite point 61.5 degrees western longitude in a geostationary orbit.

Russia's Proton-M carrier rocket with a U.S. EchoStar 15 telecommunications satellite was launched on Saturday from the Baikonur space centre in Kazakhstan, Roscosmos' official said.
The launch was held at 22.40 Moscow time [18:40 GMT]. The satellite is scheduled to separate approximately 9 hours, 13 minutes after the liftoff.

An ILS Proton-M launch vehicle with a Breeze-M upper stage is scheduled to launch the EchoStar 15 telecommunications spacecraft, from the Baikonur Cosmodrome, Kazakhstan at 18:40 GMT, 10th July, 2010.
The satellite built by US Space Systems Loral () will be operated by EchoStar Orbital Corporation.
Echostar 15 will replace EchoStar 3 in the 61.5°W orbital slot.
