Graph Gear

Graph Gear, an open platform for graph visualization (the mathematical kind, not the bar chart kind), is now available. It allows you to create an interactive graph with force directed layout that has a good interactive user experience. Its a flash component that takes a graph specifying xml file passed over javascript. Weve used graph gear in a number of projects over the last year or two and its about time to get it out there and open. Special thanks to Forrest, one of our brilliant high school helpers, for helping get this wrapped up.

The Electric Astrolabe

The Electric Astrolabe is a fully animated planetarium program (for the PC )  a planispheric astrolabe. The singular advantage of the astrolabe display is that it shows most of the sky, both visible and invisible, on a single screen. Unlike a static instrument, The Electric Astrolabe can be set for any location, date and time and includes accurate positions of the Sun, Moon, and planets. In addition, The Electric Astrolabe includes over 150 stars which can be displayed as constellation asterisms and all of the Messier objects.

You can download The Electric Astrolabe and documentation if you want to try it out (last updated January 31, 2006). You can also download just the executable file (astro.zip) to get the latest version if you already have the user's guide (last updated January 31, 2006).

They also asked us to no longer detect their software even if installed without user consent by this trojan horse, to post a public apology in this place after removing any other reference to their name, delete any correspondence from and to Spybot-S&D users who had been this trojan, stop helping further Spybot-S&D users that get infected with this trojan... all of which we're not going to fulfill obviously.

Movie Maker software

Movie Maker 2.6 is for Windows Vista users whose computer cannot run the Vista version of Movie Maker.

To test if your computer can run the Vista version of Movie Maker:
1. From the Start menu, click All Programs.
2. Click Windows Movie Maker.

If Movie Maker launches, you should not download version 2.6.
If you get an error message that says, "Windows Movie Maker cannot start because your video card does not support the required level of hardware acceleration or hardware acceleration is not available", download and install Movie Maker 2.6.
