The armed forces are now gearing up to storm the final frontier of space. India's first dedicated military satellite, a naval communications one, will finally be up and running in the sky early next year. The naval satellite's launch by ISRO will be followed by separate IAF and Army ones in 2011-2012. This is in tune with the Defence Space Vision-2020, which identifies intelligence, reconnaissance, surveillance, communication and navigation as the thrust areas in Phase-I till 2012.
