China launched Wednesday a remote-sensing satellite, "Yaogan VII," from the Jiuquan Satellite Launch Centre in northwestern Gansu Province. The satellite was successfully launched into the space on a Long March 2D carrier rocket at 4:42 p.m., the centre reported. Read more
A ChangZheng CZ-2C launch vehicle is scheduled to launch the Yaogan Weixing 7 reconnaissance satellite from the Taiyuan Satellite Launch Centre on the 25th October, 2009. The military satellite will operate in a sun-synchronous orbit and provide high-resolution imagery for the military and civilian uses. The satellite is equipped with a synthetic aperture radar (SAR) , an active microwave instrument to produce imagery of the Earth's surface in all-weather, day/night conditions.
