Tonight, the Moon will be traveling through the constellation Virgo (the Virgin). Spica, the brightest star in the constellation, will be about two degrees to the right of the waxing gibbous moon.
Spica is about 220 light-years away.
The moon reaches its full phase on Monday May 23.
This weekend and for the
remainder of this period, the moon will be present in the early morning sky.
