In May, the 'webcam' on board Mars Express will be available for public imaging requests. We're inviting schools, science clubs and youth groups to submit proposals for one of eight opportunities to image another planet.

Mars Express spacecraft celebrates 10 years

The European Space Agency (Esa) is celebrating the 10th anniversary of its Mars Express mission.
Launched on 2 June 2003, the probe went into orbit around the Red Planet in the December of that year.

Fostering Curiosity: Mars Express relays rocky images

For the first time, ESA's Mars orbiter has relayed scientific data from NASA's Curiosity rover on the Red Planet's surface. The data included detailed images of 'Rocknest3' and were received by ESA's deep-space antenna in Australia.
It was a small but significant step in interplanetary cooperation between space agencies.

Mars Express rocking and rolling with NASAs Curiosity & Opportunity

On 19 August, Sunday evening (European time), Mars Express will start its first data relay with NASA's Mars Curiosity rover in style by fitting in not just our first pass with Curiosity but also by 'rolling away' afterwards to talk with NASA's veteran Mars rover, Opportunity.

ESA's Mars Express supports dramatic landing on Mars

On 6 August, NASA's Mars Science Laboratory will make a spectacular landing to deliver the Curiosity rover to the Red Planet. ESA's Mars Express will track the mission's progress, recording crucial flight data right until 'wheels down' on the alien surface.
NASA's Mars Science Laboratory (MSL) is set to deliver the largest planetary rover ever flown onto the Red Planet's surface early in the morning of 6 August.

The Mars Express spacecraft was launched on June 2, 2003 at 23:45 local time (17:45 UT, 1:45 p.m. EDT) from Baikonur Cosmodrome in Kazakhstan, using a Soyuz-FG/Fregat rocket.
