A group of space researchers at the Nagoya University have captured the world's first image of a supernova explosion showing gas spreading toward its poles.
The scientists led by astronomer Yasuo Fukui recently took the photo of the explosion in a cluster of stars in the Carina constellation, around 17,000 light-years from Earth, with the university's Nanten radio telescope in Chile.
