There is a Cubesat Forum (see the link) that can help students to build small satellites at no cost unlike Clyde Space, which can be a solution but just for the rich.

Clyde Space, Scotland's only space industry business, will chalk up its first-ever profit this year and turn over more than £2m, the company's chief executive has revealed to The Herald.
From its base in Glasgow Science Park, the company's speciality is the manufacture of nano satellites for organisations around the world - with increasing demand from the US education sector as well as NASA.
