Supernova 2009af

A magnitude 15 type II supernova, 2009af, was discovered on the 16th February, 2009, by Giancarlo Cortini  in the low surface brightness galaxy UGC 1551, in the constellation of Aries.
The supernova is located 15".5 west and 10".4 north from the center of the galaxy.

Position(2000): at RA = 02h03m36s.37, Dec = +24°04'40".9
z = 0.008909
