The Sea Launch consortium is to launch the Galaxy 19 communications satellite atop a Zenit 3SL rocket from the Odyssey floating platform, stationed in the Pacific Ocean at 09:28 GMT, 23rd September, 2008. The 4,690 kg Intelsat Galaxy 19 satellite will occupy the orbital location at 97 degrees West Longitude, replacing the Galaxy 25 satellite that provides telecommunication coverage over North America. The satellite has a design lifespan of 13 years.
