A unique science exhibition 'Sciencexpress', mounted on a specially designed train chugged into the city on Tuesday. The state of the art train will be covering about 17,000 kilometres in a period of six months with halts at 51 railway stations across the country in the first phase that begun from November 30.
The train is scheduled to halt in Chandigarh till December 12 after which it would leave for Bhatinda.

The expectations have been more than fulfilled: to date, a total of 2.1 million people have visited the Science Express, which will, for the time being, roll into its last destination, New Delhi, on June 4th. To mark the occasion, the Indian government has extended an invitation to a celebratory event at "Safdarjung Station" in Delhi. Dr. Kurt Mehlhorn, Vice President of the Max Planck Society, will take part in the festivities in the name of the Society. During a 217 day period, the science train has covered a distance of more than 15,000 kilometres, visiting 57 Indian cities from Chennai to Kolkata and from Bangalore to Jammu, attracting a large audience that spans all age and professional groups. The exhibition provides information about state-of-the-art developments in science and research, and has sought to inspire young visitors to pursue a career in research.
