The Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency will examine its 16 operational satellites after a spate of minor mechanical glitches in the lunar orbiter Kaguya and other satellites in recent months.
It will be the first such inspection of all domestic satellites in service.
JAXA hopes the checks will identify the causes of minor faults that could snowball into more serious problems that affect the satellites' operations.
