This image of the Lake Janisjarvi Impact Crater was captured by the Landsat-7 satellite on September 5, 1999 . Lake Jänisjärvi is a 13 by 17 kilometres oval-shaped lake, in northwestern Russia, near the Finnish border. The crater was formed roughly 700 million years ago by a meteorite impact.
