The Catalina Sky Survey (CSS) using the Mt. Bigelow 0.7m Catalina Schmidt Telescope has detected a magnitude 17.2 supernova or nova at the edge of galaxy CGCG 071-101 (z=0.032), on 29th Mar 2008. The object was also present in images taken by them on 31st January 2008, (at magnitude V ~ 18.1).
