Heavy rainfall has caused severe problems in parts of northern Scotland. Fire crews were called out to pump water from houses and a number of roads were closed due to flooding. A man died in a car accident and police warned motorists to take extra care in the hazardous conditions. Between 25mm and 30mm of rain has fallen in parts of the north east of Scotland over the last 36 hours - around a third of the region's average rainfall for November.
