University of New Mexico Meteorite Museum

The Meteorite Museum is located in Northrop Hall on the Main Campus of the University of New Mexico. It houses many meteorites from the extensive collection of the Institute of Meteoritics. The highlight of the Museum is a one-ton piece of the stony meteorite, Norton County, that fell in Kansas in 1948.
The theme of our exhibit is Looking at the Solar System through a Microscope." Our displays show how scientists learn about asteroids, comets, the Moon and Mars by studying samples that have fallen to Earth from space, as well as samples that have been collected by spacecraft missions.
