Heritage sites to be displayed against star-lit sky
You may not be allowed to enter historical sites during night hours, but now you can get an excellent idea about what they look like in the backdrop of a star-lit sky.
The romantic Taj Mahal on a moonlit night, the majestic Great Wall of China on a total eclipse and the night view from Arecibo telescope in Puerto Rico these are some rare photographic delights, which will be on display during an exhibition of photographs of heritage sites in the backdrop of the night sky at the Sky Theatre at Nehru Planetarium in the city. The exhibition was inaugurated by director-general Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) Anshu Vaish on Tuesday.

The Jawaharlal Nehru Planetarium

More shows at planetarium
The Jawaharlal Nehru Planetarium has more shows and variety now. Instead of the regular one show each in English and Kannada, it will have four Kannada shows and three English shows from 11.30 a.m. to 6.30 a.m. In addition, a special show will be arranged from 10.30 a.m. if booked in advance.

Solar System Marathon

Nehru Planetarium along with Amateur Astronomers' Association, Delhi, and Science Popularisation Association of Communicators and Educators (SPACE) is organising a "Solar System Marathon" here on June 2.
Through various telescopes and other observation aids, the participants can observe the solar system bodies on the night of June 2 at the summer workshop that will be held on the sprawling Teen Murti lawns here. The observation sessions will be interspersed with multimedia presentations, activities, competitions and interactions. Recent developments in solar system explorations will be comprehensively discussed.
