The Vietnam Science and Technology Institute and the Vietnam Space Technology Institute on April 8 reported to the government a project to build the Hoa Lac Space Technology Centre.
The total capital for this project totals US $350 million, coming from Japan's ODA sources. The project will be implemented from 2010 to 2017. The investor is the Vietnam Space Technology Institute and the developer is the Vietnam Science and Technology Institute.
The Hoa Lac Space Centre will be built on 9ha of land in the Hoa Lac Hi-tech Park, in Thach That District, 30km from Hanoi's centre, 47km from the Noi Bai International Airport and over 100km from the Hai Phong Port. The centre will have a space technology operating zone, a small satellite assembly, integration and testing zone, a planetarium, a research and training zone and a ground station to receive data from satellites.

A project to build a space technology research and development center at the Hoa Lac Hi-tech Park, Hanoi is now being researched.
According to a workshop introducing JETRO Study Teams report on this project, held in
Hanoi on Thursday, the total capital for this project totals US $350 million, coming from Japans ODA sources. The project will be implemented from now until 2017.
The Hoa Lac Space Center will be built on 9 ha. of land in the Hoa Lac Hi-tech Park, 30 km from Hanois centre. The center will have a space technology operating zone, a small satellite assembly, integration and testing zone, a planetarium, a research and training zone and a ground station to receive data from satellites.

The Vietnam Science and Technology Institute has finalised a scheme on the establishment of the Vietnam Space Committee and the Space Technology Institute.
The scheme has been presented to related ministries and agencies for consideration and opinions. It will be submitted to the Prime Minister for approval this year.
According to Professor Tran Manh Tuan, Director of the Centre for Space Technology Application and Co-ordination, the Vietnam Space Committee will directly assist the Prime Minister in coordinating the operations of Vietnams space technology research and application agencies to realise the countrys strategy on the research and application of space technology to 2020.
