A Russian  inquiry report has  revealed  that a faulty control cable  exposed the Expedition 15 crew and Malaysia's first space traveller to a rough  return journey  from the International Space Station (ISS) .
The Soyuz  capsule carrying Russians cosmonauts Fyodor Yurchikhin and Oleg Kotov, and Sheikh Muszaphar Shukor, of Malaysia,  re-entered the Earths atmosphere at  a steeper-than-usual trajectory;  this  deceleration subjected the crew to 8.5 G-forces instead of the usual 4G in the intended  ballistic descent.
The craft touched down on the Kazakh steppes at 10:39 GMT, Oct 21, 2007, after undocking from the ISS.

A Russian Soyuz spacecraft safely returned to earth on Sunday ending the 15th long-term expedition aboard the International Space Station (ISS). The craft touched down on the Kazakh steppes at 10:39 GMT after undocking from the International Space Station (ISS) at 07:14 GMT
Russian cosmonauts, Fyodor Yurchikhin and Oleg Kotov,  along with Malaysian Sheikh Muszaphar Shukor are in good health.

A Soyuz-U Rocket Body that was launched from the Baikonour Cosmodrome on 7 April 2007, for the ISS Expedition 15 Mission, is predicted to re-enter the Earths atmosphere on the 11th April 2007 @ 14:08 UTC ± 13 hours

A Russian spacecraft carrying two crew and latest space tourist, billionaire Charles Simonyi, has docked with the International Space Station (ISS).
After docking, it takes about two hours before the airlocks open and the crew float into the space station.
The Soyuz TM-10 craft lifted off from the Baikonur space station in Kazakhstan at 1731 GMT on Saturday.

Is there a more perfect symbol of the excesses of global capitalism than Charles Simonyi's 13-day joyride into outer space? Simonyi, a Hungarian-American software programmer who made his fortune at Xerox and Microsoft before launching his own start-up, paid $20 million to be escorted to the Kazakh steppes, packed into a Russian Soyuz rocket and blasted towards the international space station. En route, he'll enjoy a meal of roasted quail, duck breast confit with capers, shredded chicken parmentier and rice pudding with candied fruit -- all carefully selected by his girlfriend, Martha Stewart. (Martha, whatever happened to astronaut ice cream and Tang?) No word yet on the threadcount of his sheets or if there's 24-hour concierge service in orbit.
