A type 1a, magnitude15.8 supernova, 2007as, was discovered on the 13th March 2007, by Luckas, Trondal, Schwartz from the Tenagra Observatory in the galaxy ESO 18-G18, in the constellation Chamaeleon.
The supernova is located 12".1 west and 8".8 north of the centre of the galaxy.

Position(2000): R.A. = 09h27m36s.01, Dec. = -80°10'39".2
