Tropical Cyclone Indlala

The cyclone Indlala struck the north-eastern coast of Madagascar on 15 March arriving with winds of more 230km/h. Even after moving inland, it still registered gusts up to 125 kilometres per hour. The storm also continued to unleash torrential rains. Preliminary assessments indicate that about thirty people were killed and thousands left homeless in the three districts of Diana, Sava, Sofia and Analajirofo. (Towns of Maroantsetra, Antalaha, Ananalava, Ambanja). Thousands also lost their livelihoods.
