Dr. Ed Sion (Villanova University) and colleagues have requested AAVSO observers' assistance in monitoring the symbiotic-type recurrent nova IM Nor in support of observations with the Hubble Space Telescope Cosmic Origins Spectrograph scheduled for 2017 February 13 - 17 UT.

IM Normae (Nova Normae 1920) is a magnitude +18.5 eclipsing symbiotic-type recurrent nova located in the constellation Norma.

The recurrent nova has only been seen in outburst on two occasions; as a magnitude +9.0 star recorded on a photographic plate exposed on the 6th July 1920 by I. E. Woods at Harvard Observatory, and discovered at maximum of magnitude +8.3 by American astronomer William Liller on the 10th January 2002.

Right ascension 15h 39m 26.465s, Declination -52° 19' 17.99"
