NGC 1201 (also ESO 480-28, MCG-4-8-23 and PGC 11559) is a magnitude +10.64 elliptical galaxy located 77 million light-years away in the constellation Fornax.
The galaxy is less than 30' south of the magnitude +7.5 star HD 19225.

The galaxy was discovered by German-British astronomer William Herschel using a 47.5 cm (18.7 inch) f/13 speculum reflector at Clayhall Farm House in Old Windsor on 26 October 1785

The galaxy hosted supernova 2003hv

Right ascension: 03h 04m 07.969s, Declination: -26° 04' 10.53"
