NGC 5839 (also UGC 9693, MCG 0-38-23, and PGC 53865) is a magnitude +12.7 lenticular galaxy located 56 million light-years away in the constellation Virgo. 

The galaxy was discovered by German-British astronomer William Herschel using a 47.5 cm (18.7 inch) f/13 speculum reflector at Clayhall Farm House in Old Windsor on the 24th February 1786.

The galaxy hosted Supernova 2015bp

Right ascension 15h 05m 27.4s, Declination +01° 38' 04"
