The International Astronomical Union Set Pluto Naming Themes

The International Astronomical Union (IAU) - the internationally recognized authority for naming celestial bodies and their surface features - has approved themes submitted by NASA's New Horizons team for naming surface features on Pluto and its moons.

In anticipation of the July 2015 flyby of the Pluto system by NASA's New Horizons mission, we propose naming conventions and example names for surface features on Pluto and its satellites (Charon, Nix, Hydra, Kerberos, Styx) and names for newly discovered satellites.
