NGC 317 is a magnitude +13.5 pair of galaxies located 243 and 250 million light-years away in the constellation Andromeda.

The galaxies were discovered by American astronomer Lewis A. Swift using a 40.6 cm (16 inch) Alvan Clark and Sons refractor at the Warner Observatory, East Avenue, Rochester, New York, on the 1st October 1885.

Right Ascension 00h 57m 39.0s, Declination +43° 48' 05" (PGC 3442, MCG 7-3-9 and UGC 593)

Right Ascension 00h 57m 40.5s, Declination +43° 47' 31" (PGC 3445, IRAS 00548+4331, MCG 7-3-10 and UGC 594)
