NGC 189 (also Collinder 462 and OCL 301) is a magnitude +8.8 open star cluster located 3,500 light-years away in the constellation Cassiopeia.

The cluster was first discovered by astronomer Caroline Herschel, using a 10.67 cm (4.2 inch) newtonian reflector, on the 27th September 1783.

The cluster was rediscovered by John Herschel on the 27th October 1829. 

Right Ascension 00h 39m 35.6s, Declination +61° 05' 42"
