NGC 727 (also NGC 729, ESO 354-10, MCG -6-5-12 and PGC 7027) is a magnitude +13.9 barred spiral galaxy located 462 million light-years away in the constellation Fornax.

The galaxy was discovered by British astronomer John Herschel using a 47.5 cm (18.7 inch) f/13 speculum reflecting telescope  at Feldhausen, Claremont, Cape Town on the 1st September 1834. 
The galaxy was rediscovered by John Herschel in November 1837 and relisted as NGC 729.

Right Ascension 01h 53m 49.3s, Declination -35° 51' 21"
