NGC 6974 (also GC 5975) is a magnitude +13.2 supernova remnant and emission nebula located in the constellation Cygnus.
NGC 6974 is a part of the Veil Nebula.

The supernova remnant was discovered by Irish astronomer Lawrence Parsons, 4th Earl of Rosse, using a 182.88 cm (72 inch) speculum reflector at Birr Castle on the 20th August 1873.
