NGC 4139 (also IC 2989, MCG 0-31-30 and PGC 38213) is a magnitude +13.7 barred spiral galaxy located 257 million light-years away in the constellation Virgo.

The galaxy was discovered by German astronomer Heinrich Louis d'Arrest using a 27.94 cm (11 inch) f/17.5 refractor at the Copenhagen Observatory on the 10th August 1863.
The galaxy was rediscovered by Guillaume Bigourdan in March 1895 and relisted as IC 2989.
