NGC 6709 (also Collinder 392 and OCL 100) is a magnitude +6.7 open star cluster located 3,900 ±570 light-years away in the constellation Aquila. 
The star Zeta Aquilae is 5° southwest, and the open star cluster IC 4756 is located 6° towards the northeast.

The cluster was discovered by British astronomer John Herschel using a 47.5 cm (18.7 inch) f/13 speculum reflecting telescope at Slough, England, on the 29th July 1827. 

Right Ascension 18h 51m 30.0s, Declination +10° 20' 00"
