NGC 6847 (also SH2-97) is a magnitude +13.0 star cloud located in the constellation Cygnus.
The star cloud was discovered by German-British astronomer William Herschel using a 47.5 cm (18.7 inch) f/13 speculum reflecting telescope at Datchet, England on the 17th July 1784.
