NGC 6396 (also ESO 393-SC10, Collinder 339 and OCL 1018) is a magnitude +8.5 open star cluster located 3,888 light-years away in the constellation Scorpius. 

The cluster was discovered by British astronomer John Herschel using a 47.5 cm (18.7 inch) f/13 speculum reflector at the Cape of Good Hope on the 7th July 1836.

Right Ascension 17h 37m 36.2s, Declination -35° 01' 33"
