NGC 6235 (also ESO 586-SC5 and GCL 48) is a magnitude +8.8 globular star cluster located 37500 light-years away in the constellation Ophiuchus.
The cluster was discovered by German-British astronomer William Herschel using a 47.5 cm (18.7 inch) f/13 speculum reflector at Clayhall Farm House in Old Windsor on the 26th May 1786.
