NGC 5205 (also IRAS 13283+6245, MCG 11-17-3, UGC 8501 and PGC 47425) is a magnitude +12.3 spiral galaxy located 81 million light years away in the constellation Ursa Major.
The galaxy was discovered by American astronomer Lewis Swift using a 40.64 cm (16 inch) refractor at the Marseille Observatory on the 18th May 1887.
