NGC 4709 (also MCG -7-26-56 and PGC 43423) is a magnitude +10.9 elliptical galaxy located 215 million light-years away in the constellation Centaurus.

The galaxy was discovered by Scottish astronomer James Dunlop using a 22.86 cm (9 inch) f/12 speculum Newtonian reflector in Parramatta, New South Wales, on the 7th May 1826.

Right Ascension 12h 50m 03.9s, Declination -41° 22' 57"
