NGC 5172 (also IRAS 13268+1718, MCG 3-34-41, UGC 8477 and PGC 47330) is a magnitude +11.9 spiral galaxy located 185 million light-years away in the constellation Coma Berenices.
The galaxy was discovered by British astronomer John Herschel using a 47.5 cm (18.7 inch) f/13 speculum reflector at Windsor Road, Slough, on the 7th May 1826.
