NGC 5179 (also MCG 2-34-23 and PGC 47363) is a magnitude +14.2 spiral galaxy located 332 million light-years away in the constellation Virgo.

The galaxy was discovered by American astronomer Sherburne Wesley Burnham using a 46.99 cm (18.5 inch) refractor on the 5th May 1883.

Right Ascension 13h 29m 30.8s, Declination +11° 44' 47"
