NGC 4983 (also MCG 5-31-138 and PGC 45542) is a magnitude +14.0 barred spiral galaxy located 300 million light-years away in the constellation Corona Borealis.

The galaxy was discovered by German-British astronomer William Herschel using a 47.5 cm (18.7 inch) f/13 speculum reflector at Datchet, Berkshire, on the 11th April 1785.

Right Ascension 13h 08m 27.4s, Declination +28° 19' 15"
