NGC 5087 (also IRAS 13177-2021, MCG -3-34-50, UGCA 350 and PGC 46541) is a magnitude +11.4 elliptical galaxy located 85 million light years away in the constellation Virgo. 
In the sky, it is close to the galaxies NGC 5068 and NGC 5084.

The galaxy was discovered by German-British astronomer William Herschel using a 47.5 cm (18.7 inch) f/13 speculum reflector at Windsor Road, Slough, on the 8th April 1788.
