NGC 4870 (also PGC 44569) is a magnitude +14.6 spiral galaxy located 487 million light-years away in the constellation Canes Venatici. 

The galaxy was discovered by Irish astronomer Lawrence Parsons, 4th Earl of Rosse using a 183-cm (72 inch) speculum reflector at Birr Castle on the 1st April 1878.
