NGC 5048 (also ESO 443-87, MCG -5-31-41 and PGC 46179) is a magnitude +12.8 lenticular galaxy located 201 million light-years away in the constellation Hydra. 

The galaxy was discovered by British astronomer John Herschel using a 47.5 cm (18.7 inch) f/13 speculum reflector at the Cape of Good Hope on the 30th March 1835.

Right Ascension 13h 16m 08.3s, Declination -28° 24' 40"
