NGC 2863 (also NGC 2869, IRAS 09211-1012, MCG -2-24-18 and PGC 26609) is a magnitude +12.9 spiral galaxy located 82 million light-years away in the constellation Hydra.
The galaxy was discovered by German-British astronomer William Herschel using a 47.5 cm (18.7 inch) f/13 speculum reflector at Clayhall Farm House in Old Windsor on the 25th March 1786. The galaxy was rediscovered by Frank Muller in 1886 and relisted as NGC 2869.
