NGC 6541 (also GCl 86, ESO 280-SC4 and Caldwell 78) is a magnitude +6.3 globular star cluster located 24,400 light-years away in the constellation Corona Australis.

The cluster was discovered by Italian astronomer Nicoḷ Cacciatore using a 7.62 cm (3 inch) refractor at the Palermo Astronomical Observatory on the 19th March 1826.

Right Ascension 18h 08m 02.36s, Declination -43° 42' 53.6"

It was independently found by James Dunlop (1793-1848) on July 3, 1826.
