NGC 3973 (also MCG 2-31-1, UGC 7475 and PGC 37439) is a magnitude +15.0 spiral galaxy located 284 million light-years away in the constellation Leo.

The galaxy was discovered by German-British astronomer R. J. Mitchell using a 182.88 cm (72 inch) speculum reflector at Birr castle on the 15th March 1855.

Right Ascension 11h 55m 37.0s, Declination Dec +11° 59' 50"
