NGC 4647 (also Arp 116, IRAS 12410+1151, MCG 2-33-1, UGC 7896 and PGC 42816) is a magnitude +11.4 barred spiral galaxy located 65 million light-years away in the constellation Virgo.
The galaxy may be gravitationally interacting with the neighbouring galaxy Messier 60 (NGC 4649): these two galaxies are listed as Arp 116 in the Atlas of peculiar galaxies by Halton Arp.

The galaxy was discovered by German-British astronomer William Herschel using a 47.5 cm (18.7 inch) f/13 speculum reflector at Datchet, Berkshire, on the 15th March 1784.

The galaxy hosted supernova 1979A

Right Ascension 12h 43m 32.5s, Declination Dec +11° 34' 58"
