NGC 4496 (also NGC 4496A, NGC 4505, UGC 7668, IRAS 12291 +0412 and PGC 41471) is a magnitude +11.2 barred spiral galaxy located 43 million light-years away in the constellation Virgo.
The galaxy lies close to NGC 4496B.

The galaxy was discovered by German-British astronomer William Herschel using a 47.5 cm (18.7 inch) f/13 speculum reflector at Datchet, Berkshire, on the 23rd February 1784.
The galaxy was rediscovered by Herschel in March 1784 and relisted as NGC 4505.

The galaxy hosted supernova 1960F.
