NGC 3251 (also IC 2579, UGC 5684, MCG 4-25-23 and PGC 30892) is a magnitude +13.5 barred spiral galaxy located 234 million light-years away in the constellation Leo.

The galaxy was discovered by Danish-German astronomer Heinrich Louis d'Arrest using a 27.94 cm (11 inch) f/17.5 Merz-Refractor at the Copenhagen Observatory on the 19th February 1862.
The galaxy was rediscovered in April 1900 by French astronomer Stephane Javelle and relisted as IC 2579.

Right Ascension 10h 29m 16.5s, Declination +26° 05' 56"
