NGC 4727 (also NGC 4740, MCG -2-33-23, IRAS12483-1403 and PGC 43499) is a magnitude +11.9 spiral galaxy located 344 million light-years away in Corvus.

The galaxy was discovered by German-British astronomer William Herschel using a 47.5 cm (18.7 inch) reflecting telescope at Datchet, Berkshire, on the 8th February 1785. 
The galaxy was rediscovered by Lewis Swift in April 1887 and relisted as NGC 4740.

Right Ascension 12h 50m 57.2s, Declination -14° 19' 59"
